About the Event

The City of Toronto will host a free, family-friendly public celebration at Nathan Phillips Square on Thursday, June 12, to mark the one-year countdown to FIFA World Cup 26™ in Toronto and to celebrate the first-ever Soccer Day in the city.

To mark the countdown and the first FIFA World Cup™ match of Canada’s Men’s Soccer Team on home soil, Mayor Olivia Chow will proclaim June 12 as Soccer Day in Toronto. The day recognizes Toronto’s passion for the beautiful game and celebrates the city’s role as an official host city for FIFA World Cup 2026™ including the unveiling of the Official FIFA World Cup 26™ Toronto Countdown Clock.
